How we began?
We founded Bukona Agro Processors Ltd out of a pure passion. Our goals, ambitions and inspirations have come together to form a truly amazing company that all of us are proud to be a part of. The journey commenced in 2015 with acquisition of land and the statutory permissions. The construction was commenced in May 2016 and the plant was commissioned in January 2019
Who we are.
Bukona Agro Processors is a cassava based distillery manufacturing ethanol which is primarily used for domestic cooking in our specially designed ethanol cook stoves, Bukona Agro is aiming to substitute the use of devastating Charcoal and the imported LPG, the prevailing cooking options.
Bukona Agro is providing a large scale market for cassava in Northern Uganda, to the tune of 20,000 tons of dry cassava chips annually and supporting the government objective of promoting and commercialising cassava through their development arm Operation Wealth Creation (OWC). OWC in partnership with the Archdiocese of Gulu have supported Over 10,000 Farmers by providing them seedlings. Bukona Agro is proud to be associated with OWC and Acholibur Parish Project (APP), a venture formed by the Archdiocese of Gulu.
To be a leading community based cassava processing industry in Uganda producing fuel ethanol for cooking to curb deforestation substituting charcoal and promoting sustainable development, empowering small holder farmers and providing cleaner and healthier cooking option.
To establish a viable business module which fosters cassava processing in the industrially backward area providing large scale market to enhance the economic prosperity of the community through business partnerships and targeting to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
